Capital Grill - Rajouri Garden



Captial Grill, is a newly opened Restaurant at Rajouri Garden. Situated on the busy main road, this Restaurant is located close to the Metro Terminal.

The Restaurant is owned by Mr. Anil and Mr Vivek Suri, who are stock investors, also have a passion for food themselves. The General Manager on board Mr Rohit Malik holds more than 16 years of experience and looks after all the activities at Capital Grill.

This was a bloggers meeting to review the newly opened Capital Grill for lunch.

The Menu comprises of Continental, North Indian, Chinese and European cuisines.


Ambiance -- 

The atmosphere is calm, comforting and family oriented. Since they are newly opened, Basement and the first floor are yet to be designed. The ground floor where we were seated is spacious. Carved wooden panels near the bar, long and round tables, velvety chairs makes the ambiance cosy.

Food --

We started with few Mocktails and Starters. Each starter is served in a presentable manner. Mocktails on the other hand were interesting and creative. Surprisingly, we tried almost all of them. The best ones are enlisted below:

Starters -
  • Murg Malai Tikka - Soft and juicy. Rating 3/5
  • Mung Daal Seekh - And exclusive seekh grilled with Moong Dal on the outside. Served with an onion salad and green chutney. Good combination and was healthy too. Rating - 4/5
  • Chilli Chicken - Soft, juicy pieces of boneless chicken. Rating 4/5
  • Veg Salt & Pepper - Crispy vegetables with moderate use of salt and pepper. A must try. Rating 4/5
  • Falafel with Hummus & Pita Bread - Deep fried patty's made of chickpeas were very soft. Hummus spread was served in small portion and Pita Bread was moist. Rating 3/5
Mocktails -
  • Cranberry Crazy - Cranberry refreshing cooler. Rating 4.5/5
  • Sangria - A glass of grape fruit juice and loaded with fruits shaped in different sizes. A must try. Rating 4/5
  • Adam Apple - Carbonated drink with apples, ginger and cinnamon. Very exquisite. Rating 5/5
  • Capi Green - A kiwi flavored drink. I did not enjoy this very much but it looked really pretty. Rating 2/5

  • Mutton Biryani - Served in a pot to keep flavors intact. The serving according to me was small, yet the flavors were scintillating. Its served with Raita (curd) and was moderately spiced. Rating 3/5
  • Chicken Steak with Mushroom Sauce - Fried chicken with fresh veggies and fluffy mashed potatoes. The chicken is grilled with pepper on either side. A classic. Rating 3.5/5
  • Grilled Fish with Lemon Butter Sauce - A must have for all those who love fish. There is no part of a fish I do not like. This one is brushed with lots of lemon, butter and thyme. Rating 5/5

  • Capital Grill Pan Kulfi - Ah! This dessert is a Pan kulfi topped with Gulkand. Rating 4/5
  • Pink Kheer - A different kind of Kheer made from Beetroot. The taste of beetroot is minimum and was good. Rating 3/5
  • Capital Grill Special Pastry - Cake pastry made out of Bottle Gourd (Lauki). Topped with cream and fruits. You will not know about bottle gord till you finish it. Rating 4/5

Overall, the lunch was decent. Comfortable food in a calm and cosy restaurant. The service was a bit slow but because its only been two weeks since they opened, I would not complain about it. Their Bar License is arriving soon.

Chef’s Basket Recipe Kit – Arrabiata in Fusilli

I have mostly shared Stories about how I gathered all the right ingredients to prepare a certain dish. Today, I share an easy, enjoyable, quick Italian meal – Arrabiata in Fusilli. Prepared by using the ingredients inside this little Chef’s Basket Recipe Kit

received a sample of ‘Arrabiata in Fusili with Basil infused Olive oil’ and was asked to share my experience with of Chef’s Basket Recipe Kit. Here is how it goes,

Chef’s Basket Kit
Nett weight of the kit – 524 grams ; Serves – 3 ; Spice – Medium ; Preparation time – 15 minutes ; Cost – Rs. 250/-

Ingredients inside the kit

Ingredients —
  1. Italian Fusilli Pasta – 200 grams
  2. Basil Infused Olive oil – 10 ml
  3. Arrabiata Pasta Sauce – 300 grams
  4. Italian herbs – 2 grams
  5. Sea Salt – 12 grams

The recipe is designed in such a way that all one requires to do is follow instructions mentioned on the box. For a beginner who has never cooked before, this kit is suitable.
Even though the directions were mentioned, I like to experiment and make the dish presentable (Inspired by classes I attend/ed with Best Chefs).

Method —
  1. Boil 2 L of water in a vessel with Sea salt on high flame.
  2. When the water comes to a boil, add Fusilli Pasta and boil for 12 minutes. Make sure to not overcook.
  3. Strain the boiled pasta.
  4. Take a pan, add Arrabiata pasta sauce and simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Add boiled pasta to the pan and toss it up / mix gently for a minute. Avoid using a spoon since it will cause the spiral pasta to break.
  6. Remove the pan from heat and add Basil infused extra virgin olive oil.
  7. Serve hot in a deep bowl and garnish with mixed herbs.
I followed the instructions till garnishing with mixed herbs. And then sprinkled some Amul Cheese and toasted 2 sticks of garlic bread (Keeping in mind about the presentation)

Conclusion —
Chef’s Basket Recipe kit, satisfies the craving when one is unable to dine out especially “for those pasta cravings”. However, the kit is adequate for only 2 people and not 3.

Also, while consuming the dish, it was a bit dry. Few more grams of the Arrabiata Pasta sauce would have worked wonders.
Worth giving it a try and I am sure will satisfy your taste buds.

Khandvi Recipe

In Gujarati, Khandvi and in Marathi, Surali Chya Vadya, a famous Western Indian dish. Khandvi is very popular among the Gujartai's.

Nobody not even me can hide their love towards this delicious dish.

A friend (Karishma Rastogi) shares her Recipe and believe me its a delicious savoury. Simple and easy to cook. The time one needs to be really careful is when one has to fold these little sheets. Its a real test on ones patience. My patience was at test!

Lets take a look at the Ingredients required and Follow the procedure:


Ingredients Required :

  1. Gram Flour (Besan) - 1 cup
  2. Flour (Maida) - 1 tablespoon
  3. Curd - 1 cup
  4. Oil - 1 teaspoon
  5. Mustard seed - 1 teaspoon
  6. Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  7. Water - 3 cups
  8. Salt and Pepper - to taste
  9. Turmeric Powder (Haldi) - a pinch
  10. Fresh grated coconut - 3 teaspoons
  11. Chopped Corriander Leaves (Dhania) - 2 tablespoon
  12. Chopped Green Chilli - 2

For Garnish : We use Grated Coconut and Chopped Corriander leaves


Procedure :

  • In a bowl add Curd, Water, Gram Flour (Besan), Flour (Maida), Salt and Turmeric powder (haldi).
  • On a high flame keep stirring continuously till the mixture begins to thicken in the pan.
  • Grease a Thali (plate) and pour the mixture immediately over the back of a thali cover or any smooth surface and spread evenly. Let it now cool.
  • In another pan, heat some oil, add Mustard seeds, Black pepper and sprinkle over it over the mixture you spread on the Thali (plate).
  • Now starts the difficult part - Cut the spread in 2 inches like Bread pieces and roll them.
  • Garnish with Grated Coconut, Chopped Corriander leaves and Chopped Green Chilli.
  • Serve warm or you can also keep it in the refrigerator and serve when your guests arrive.
